Discover the Art of pottery with The Painted Pony

Looking for a unique and rewarding activity in Ruidoso Downs? Look no further than our clay sessions at The Painted Pony! Our pottery classes offer the opportunity to learn the fascinating art of clay throwing and hand building. After a short demo, spend a few hours learning how to turn clay on a pottery wheel and create your own masterpiece!

Our classes include all of the necessary materials, clay, glazes, tools, and equipment, as well as expert instructions from our experienced instructors. This makes it the perfect activity for all ages to enjoy the fun and creativity of working with clay.

At the end of your session, you'll have a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects your unique creativity and style. We offer gas or electric firing and a variety of glaze colors to choose from, all included in the price to finish your piece.  Our Instructor will fire your work for you and contact you when it is ready for painting at The Painted Pony. Participants will be able to return in approximately 2-3 weeks to glaze their projects. If you are unable to come back in to paint them, we can paint them for you with your selected choice of colors. If you need them Shipped we can do that too (additional fees apply for shipping). Let us guide you through the exciting process of bringing your ideas to life with clay. 

To best enjoy your pottery wheel experience, plan to wear jeans/shorts/pants/long, loose skirts as you will be straddling the pottery wheel. Clay washes out of your clothes, but it is best to wear things that are easily machine washable. Aprons will be provided. Watches/bracelets/rings should be removed and left at home or stored safely during the class time. Very long nails should be trimmed if possible, and very long hair should be tied up.
